Okay, I have been told I am being too technical here. Well, the sole purpose of this blog was so that I would have more links to my site on the internet, so I would get a higher search engine ranking.
However, if you really want to know what I think, I can't understand why people are afraid of guide dogs. We walk through Walmart and hear screams. I have literally seen people at work get up on a table so they won't be near my dog. Does she look like a killer? How can anyone think that little sweet face could possibly be aggressive? She is a guide dog, not a guard dog. My hand is on her harness and leash. She is not running around the store or work attacking people. She is not out of control. I think people just need to get a grip and let me handle my dog. Guide dogs are not taught to attack. I heard a story once about a guide dog school that used to train their dogs to attack on command, but they *DON'T* do that anymore! I could not tell you if that story was even true or not, but it was just something I heard.
I love to talk about my dog. I love to brag about her and occasionally I don't mind people stopping me and asking to pet her, but paleeeze, not all the time. I have a life, errands, shopping, things to do, I like to eat in restaurants without being interrupted constantly. And, while I am at it, if I ask you to please not pet my dog, or if you ask and I say no, the answer is truly no. Don't pet her anyway thinking I don't realize it. She loves attention, and I adore her and want to make her happy, but as my guide dog she has to remain focused on her work. Would you like it if I asked to pet your eyes? Same difference. I know she is adorable and irresistable, and all of that, but she is a working dog. She helps keep me safe.
Oh, my website url is http://www.accessabilitysolutions.net/
Sorry if this was a bit harsh, but there are days...
